Building Pediatric Mobility from the Kids Up: Extending Pediatric Mobility Goals Beyond the Mat (Course Level: Beginner/Review) - 0.2 CEU
Presented by Lee Johnson, Kids UP by Quantum
** This workshop is geared to attendees who are therapists but all attendees are welcome to attend portions of or the full workshop.
This course charts a course through the interaction with and relationship between a Reaction Dynamic Seating System and the therapeutic needs of the child, the treatment goals of their therapist, and the dynamics of their family environment. Participants will:
1. be able to describe the components of traditional thought in seating and positioning and list 3 desired therapeutic outcomes that arise from the consistent implementation of correct positioning.
2. be able to describe the physics and forces involved with a human body in extension as it relates to their seating system.
3. have the ability to compare and then discuss specific challenges in seating and positioning that are addressed by Reaction Dynamic Seating as opposed to traditional static seating.
4. develop Hands-On experience and familiarity with Reaction Dynamic Seating and Kids UP pediatric mobility products.

Let ABLE to Travel guide you thru the often-difficult task of planning accessible travel. No one said it would be easy, but it doesn’t have to be hard! ABLE to Travel is here to help make your trip accessible from start to finish and alleviate the headache for you! In this workshop we will discuss the Air Carrier Access, the 2010 ADA Standards that have mandated increased accessibility to hotels and other travel destinations, tips for travelers, maneuvering through airport security and the mandates from TSA, and cruises (one of the most accessible ways to travel).

Finding the right wheelchair can be frustrating as there is often conflicting information at every turn. This interactive seminar will offer strategies and resources to help navigate this process. Subjects including: finding the most appropriate doctor, how to work with your local equipment supplier, what to do if you are denied the equipment you want, locating resources specific to your needs and consumer rights will be discussed. Travel the World: Tips for Travelers with Disabilities and Seniors

Find out great ways for you to grow your garden using all sorts of barrier-free methods and easy-to-grow vegetables. The focus is on organic methods of growing and attendees will have the opportunity for hands-on experience at this event.

Building Mainstream Relationship For Children Who Are Unique
Presented by Karen Kain, CEO, Lorrin's World and a Family Advocate
Karen Kain talks to parents about the 15 years she spent raising her medically-fragile daughter Lorrin who was cortically blind, non-verbal, and a quadriplegic with an uncontrolled seizure disorder. Lorrin was totally comfortable with who she was and lived a full life filled with best friends, slumber parties, concerts, Girl Scouts, and endless travel. She even swam with the dolphins! Lorrin also participated in the school play and won first place for the middle school Halloween dance with her canine companion by her side. Karen shares her experiences and talks about how she made it all happen by setting goals, getting creative, and making a decision to live a life without boundaries.
